Besides having a business plan and choosing what legal structure your business will have, there are some accounting things you need to know, so you can avoid any confusion later.

The EIN

The EIN is the Employer Identification Number, which is important because, without it, you cannot fill other forms required to open your business, sometimes including bank accounts.

You can apply for one of these forms per day and you can do it by mail or online. Note that online is way faster and convenient.

Tax Forms

By this, I mean forms like Sales Tax, Payroll Tax, and Unemployment Tax, etc.

Depending on what kind of business you will have, you may have to fill more forms. These forms can be complicated but they are necessary for your business.

Record Keeping

Important documents in your business must be kept for at least three years. Examples of these documents are Financial Statements, Bookkeeping, Receipts, Tax Forms, Licenses, and even owner's information.

If you don’t handle this correctly it can get very expensive in the future.
You are going to learn a lot in the process, this is just part of owning a business.

Once your business starts growing and you have a bigger budget, it’s better to let a certified public accountant handle everything because things get very complicated.
